Description
This is a Saarinen Tulip Pedestal Swivel Armchair, Model 150A, initially designed by Eero Saarinen for Knoll in 1956. This particular example dates to 1964, which is dated on the underside of the chair. The design features a sculpted tulip-like base that is composed of powder-coated cast aluminum, and the shell is formed of molded fiberglass. The chair has a new seat pad that is upholstered in a red fabric. There is additional hardware underneath likely to stop the base from swiveling.
The chair measures 23.5 inches long, 26 inches wide, and 32 inches high. They have a seat height of 18 inches, and an arm height of 25.25 inches. This piece does show some wear consistent with previous use, but overall is in good to very good vintage condition. Please see photos.
