The CH011 coffee table combines the beautiful and the practical to make an elegant piece of furniture that will naturally fit in many spaces. Its four tapered legs tilt slightly outwards towards the two sides of the table, giving the solid top an elegant lightness, which is only further highlighted by the rounding of the legs towards the floor. The tabletop’s simple expression and natural wood surface with the grain running lengthwise makes it more adaptable for different uses. CH011 is intended primarily as a coffee table but, with its narrow width, it also works well as a side. As a link between the top and the legs, there is a solid wooden frame formed like a wide letter H. This has two purposes: It stabilizes the solid wood tabletop; and with its angled cuts at the free ends of the H, it ensures that the detachable legs are slanted. The CH011 coffee table is crafted in oak with three possible table heights.

CH011 was designed by Hans Wegner. Wegner is arguably the most important figure in Danish modern furniture design. Early in his life, Wegner apprenticed under a cabinetmaker and was eventually educated at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. In 1938, he worked on furniture for Arne Jacobsen and Erik Moller’s Aarhus City Hall. By 1943, he opened his own design studio, where he would design some of his most famous works. The peacock chair was designed in 1947 for Johannes Hansen and thanks to innovations from designers such as Eames and Aalto, bent plywood shell chairs by Wegner began in 1948. Both the Wishbone and Round Chair were in introduced in 1949 and have since become two of his best recognized works. Over his career, Wegner designed over 500 different chairs and countless other pieces including tables and cabinets. The attention to joinery, craft, and material have helped to make his name so revered.
