Still the standard, open-pollinated, globe-shaped garden beet, Detroit Dark Red is a fine early turnip beet, one of the best on the market.  Roots are nearly globe shaped at 2.5 to 3 inches in diameter with smooth skin. It has blood red color with bright red flesh. This beet is a solid good keeping root. Medium green tops with tinges of red. Resistant to Downy Mildew.
