This is a pair of Model 1407 Chairs, designed by Richard Schultz for Knoll. The listed price includes the pair of two chairs, as shown.
The No. 1407 armchair was introduced by Knoll between 1981and 1982, and the model remained in production until the late 1980s. Schultz’s vision was to design a tubular steel chair that would compete with the popular, best-selling Cesca model.
The frames of the chairs have hidden welds, and their seats & backs are upholstered in thick black leather. The base is in sled form, and the frame has a black enamel coating.
Each chair measures 20 inches deep, 22 inches wide, and 31.5 inches high. They have a seat height of 17 inches. They both have some small chips on the enamel on the frames, but overall, they are in terrific condition. Please see photos.
